When Courage Meets Faith: Honoring the Life and Legacy of Charlie Kirk

I can hardly find the words right now. My heart is heavy with grief over the murder of Charlie Kirk. I watched his videos every single day. He inspired me with his courage, his boldness, and his ability to weave together American law and God’s Word in a way that challenged and strengthened so many of us.

Charlie once said, “I want to be remembered for courage for my faith.” Those weren’t just words — they were how he lived. He stood firm in his convictions, unapologetically speaking truth, even when it cost him.

In one of his last posts, he reminded us: “Jesus defeated death so you can live.” What a testimony. Even in a world where evil feels like it’s closing in, Charlie pointed to the truth of the Gospel: death does not win.

The Weight of Evil

Today, I feel the weight of evil pressing in. It’s everywhere. Sometimes it feels oppressive, suffocating — as if the whole world is groaning. Charlie’s murder is a brutal reminder of what Scripture tells us:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

Evil isn’t new. But in moments like this, it feels overwhelming. It feels personal. And yet — we are not powerless.

Courage in the Face of Darkness

Charlie also once said: “If you believe in something, you need to have the courage to fight for those ideas — not run away from them or try and silence them.”

That’s the kind of courage we are called to as believers. Courage not rooted in bravado or pride, but in faith. Courage to stand firm. Courage to speak truth in love. Courage to live as light-bearers in a dark world.

Scripture reminds us:

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:13-14)

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:11)

Not Overcome

I am overwhelmed — but I am not overcome.

Because I know this:

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

“Death has been swallowed up in victory… thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:54-57)

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)

Charlie’s courage calls me to keep going. To keep speaking truth. To keep pointing people to Christ. To keep believing that God is still on the throne, even when evil rages.

A Prayer

Lord, when darkness feels oppressive, steady our hearts. Give us the courage to stand firm in faith, to speak truth with love, and to overcome evil with good. Comfort Charlie’s family. Give them peace during this excruciatingly tough time and in the future. Teach us to live the Gospel he proclaimed: that in Christ, death is defeated and hope is alive. Amen.

Final Thought

Charlie Kirk will be remembered for his courage, for his faith, and for the way he challenged us to stand strong in both our convictions and our trust in Jesus. May his legacy not just be admired, but lived out in our own lives.
